Republic is the second-largest city in Greene County, about 12 miles southwest of Springfield, with a small piece reaching into Christian County. It was incorporated in 1871 as a stop on the new railroad, and some of its oldest houses stand near downtown Main Street, including the 1885 Elijah Teague Anderson House on North Pine Street, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Most of Republic is much newer, though. The city grew 27 percent from 2010 to 2020, and more than half of its homes have gone up since 2000. Some newer subdivisions border open fields, so mice and spiders living in the grass have a short trip to the garage door.
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield lies just east of town, where the National Park Service manages more than 2,300 acres of prairie and woods along Wilson's Creek. The park's own safety page warns visitors that ticks and chiggers are common. Closer in, Shuyler Creek runs through east Republic beside a paved walking trail, and a planned extension would carry that trail nearly 2 miles to the battlefield. Homes on Republic's east side sit closest to both the creek and the park. Ticks and mosquitoes have roughly six frost-free months here, from about mid-April to late October.
RIDD provides residential and commercial pest control across all of Republic, in the 65738 and 65619 zip codes and the Republic addresses that use 65802. Service here runs out of our Joplin branch, about 60 miles west on I-44.
Services
Pest Control Services We Offer in Republic
RIDD provides the following services to Republic residents and businesses. Each links to a full service page with detailed information, pricing, and booking.
- 01
General Pest Control
The typical Republic house dates to about 2001, and ants and spiders get in under its doors and garage door. Visits come quarterly or bi-monthly, and each includes spraying under the eaves, where the roof reaches out over the walls, which most companies leave out. Starting at $49/month.
- 02
Mosquito, Tick & Flea Control
Lone star ticks sit in the grass where a Republic yard meets a field or creek bank, and mosquitoes hatch in rainwater in gutters and buckets. Each visit covers that grass edge and nearby shrubs with a barrier spray that lasts three to four weeks.
- 03
Rodent Control
House mice that move in from fields beside Republic subdivisions in fall breed fast, with five to ten litters a year per female. We put bait stations and snap and sticky traps where we find droppings, and show you the gaps they use.
- 04
Spider Control
In Republic homes, brown recluses spend the day behind baseboards and furniture or in little-used drawers, then hunt at night. We treat those indoor spots and the foundation outside, where they crawl in.
- 05
Ant Control
Odorous house ants smell like coconut when crushed, and spring and fall rains send them into Republic kitchens for sweets. The nest is usually outdoors under a board or a stack of materials, so we find that spot and treat the nest under it.
- 06
Wasp & Hornet Control
Yellowjackets nest in the ground under Republic lawns, and by late summer one mower pass can stir up a colony. We take out active nests, ground ones too, and treat the porch ceilings and deck rails where paper wasps start new nests each spring.

Common questions
Pest Control FAQs for Republic Residents
Do you service all of Republic?
Yes. RIDD covers all of Republic, including zip codes 65738 and 65619 and the Republic addresses that use 65802. Pricing and services are the same across the entire city.
Do you serve homes in Brookline?
Yes. Brookline grew up around an 1871 railroad post office and stayed a separate community until it joined Republic in 2005. It kept its post office and 65619 zip code. Homes in the Brookline part of Republic get the same plans and pricing as the rest of the city.
Is pricing the same in Republic as in RIDD's other markets?
Yes. The drive from our Joplin branch doesn't change the price, and RIDD charges no travel fees. Pest 4 starts at $49/month, Pest 6 at $69/month, and RIDD Package 4 at $89/month. Every plan includes our 100% satisfaction guarantee, backed by free re-services.
Why do Republic yards near Wilson's Creek National Battlefield get so many ticks?
The battlefield's prairie and woods give lone star ticks tall grass and brush, and deer moving out of the park carry them into nearby yards. MU Extension calls the lone star one of Missouri's most aggressive ticks. Adults and young ticks are most active from early spring through midsummer.
