German Roach Control
German Roach Control That Works the First Time
German cockroaches are the hardest household pest to eliminate. Standard sprays make them worse. RIDD uses professional-grade baiting systems built specifically for this species.
The problem
Why German Roaches Are Different
German cockroaches are not like other roaches. They live almost entirely indoors, reproduce faster than any other cockroach, and shrug off most over-the-counter products. A single female and her offspring can number in the hundreds, and a small problem can build into a large one over a few weeks to a couple of months.
They hide in cracks, crevices, and warm spots near food and water: behind appliances, inside cabinets, and around plumbing. Spraying them with store-bought products scatters the colony and pushes them deeper into your walls, which makes the problem harder to solve.
If you've tried to handle a German roach problem on your own and it keeps coming back, that's why. This pest needs a targeted, professional approach.
The solution
How RIDD Eliminates German Roaches
We use professional-grade gel baits and insect growth regulators placed exactly where German roaches live and travel. The bait works through the colony: roaches that feed on it carry it back to the others, including the ones hiding deep in walls and voids.
Unlike spray treatments, baiting does not scatter the colony, it targets it at the source. We rotate products to stay ahead of bait aversion and resistance, monitor the bait, reapply as needed, and track the decline until the infestation is fully resolved.
The bait goes in targeted, out-of-the-way spots like cracks and the backs of cabinets, not sprayed across open surfaces where you live and cook.

What Makes German Roaches Different
German roaches behave unlike any other roach in a Michigan home, and that is exactly why they need their own service.
-
Small and Tan
German roaches are small, about half an inch, light brown to tan, with two dark parallel stripes on the shield behind the head. That is the quick way to tell them from the larger, darker roaches you might find in a basement or floor drain.
-
Indoors for Life
Unlike American and Oriental roaches that wander in from outside, German roaches live almost entirely indoors and breed year-round in the warmth of a heated home, usually in kitchens and bathrooms close to food and water.
-
A Colony, Not a Wanderer
One female and her offspring can become hundreds of roaches. Each egg capsule carries 30 to 40 eggs, and several generations can appear in a single year, so a handful turns into an infestation quickly.
-
Why Plans Don't Catch Them
General pest control keeps American and Oriental roaches out, but German roaches need species-specific gel baiting and follow-up. That is why they are a separate, dedicated service rather than part of a standard plan.

Common questions
German Roach Control FAQs
Why can't I just spray for German roaches?
Spraying scatters the colony and pushes roaches deeper into walls and crevices, and repeated DIY spraying only selects for the roaches that already resist those products. Professional gel baiting targets the colony from the inside out, which is the reliable way to eliminate them.
How did I get German roaches?
They are almost always carried in: in grocery bags and cardboard, in secondhand appliances and furniture, or through shared walls in apartments and condos. German roaches are not a sign of a dirty home, though clutter and easy access to food and water help them spread once they arrive.
How long does treatment take?
It varies with severity. Because German roaches breed continuously and the bait works through the colony over time, clearing an infestation usually takes several weeks, and sometimes longer in heavy or multi-unit situations. We monitor throughout and reapply until the population is gone.
Is this a one-time treatment or recurring?
It depends on the situation. Some infestations clear with an initial treatment and one or two follow-ups. Others, especially in multi-unit buildings, do better with ongoing monitoring. We recommend the right approach after an inspection.
Is German roach treatment included in regular pest control plans?
No. German roaches need a different method than general pest control. This is a standalone specialty service with custom pricing, separate from the Pest 4, Pest 6, and RIDD Package 4 plans.
